18/06/2021

The Operational Group VARROAFORM, which aim is to develop an effective formulation for the control and prevention of varroatosis in domestic bees, has published the informational video of the project.

The video explains, by the hands of the members of the consortium, the objectives and activities that the project is conducting to provide an innovative solution to the apiculture sector which will reduce the serious economic and environmental consequences of the attacks of V. destructor on hives.

Currently, the project is evaluating the developed formulations in the VARROAFORM experimental apiaries in Galicia, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha and Canarias, where the beekeepers are assessing the behaviour of the formulations regarding effectiveness, toxicity on bees, ease of application or the influence of climatic conditions.

Besides FEUGA, the Universities of Santiago de Compostela and of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and the beekeepers Agustín Arias, Benigno Basteiro and Urbano González, are members of the project.
