FEUGA organises the presentation webinar of the innovation project MICOALGA-FEED

18/02/2022

The webinar, organised by FEUGA, representative and responsible for the dissemination activities, is the presentation event of the innovation project MICOALGA-FEED. It will be held online on the 3rd of March, at 10 a.m.

Approved in 2021 with a budget of around half a million euros, MICOALGA-FEED is an innovation project whose main objective is to reduce the use of antibiotics in aviculture through food. To reach this purpose, several fungi and microalgae with demonstrated antimicrobial activity are under study. Based on in vitro assays, those ingredients and their combinations with higher antimicrobial and immunomodulatory capacity will be selected. Afterwards, MICOALGA-FEED will develop new feed formulations that, supplemented with these fungi and microalgae, will have an inhibitor and/or antimicrobial effect. Thus, the project aims to increase animal welfare by reinforcing local immunity and intestinal flora. In the last stage, the developed feed will be evaluated in experimental poultry farms.

In the framework of the dissemination activities, FEUGA organises this presentation webinar, the starting point with which the project will be presented among the different agents of the sector and the general public. In it, representatives of the participant companies will explain the objectives and activities to be developed. Furthermore, they will explain, first-hand, the role of the companies in the project and the positive impact that MICOALGA-FEED can entail on the national agri-food sector.

The webinar will count with the interventions of Ángel Sanabria (FEUGA), María Álvarez (Neoalgae), Paloma López (Hifas Veterinary) and Elena Molinero (Grupo Uvesa).

When: Thursday, 3rd of March, at 10 a.m.
