iHUB FEUGA contributed to the 1st IMPULSA CITEEC Innovation and Technology Transfer Marathon by delivering short training sessions and serving as a member of the jury.

The first edition of IMPULSA CITEEC took place in A Coruña on 15, 16 and 18 September. Organised by the Centre for Technological Innovation in Building and Civil Engineering (CITEEC), the initiative aimed to encourage its research and technical staff to develop innovative solutions to real societal challenges previously put forward by companies and public-sector entities. The marathon sought to foster knowledge valorisation and technology-transfer activities, while helping to attract and develop research and innovation talent.

In this context, iHUB FEUGA played a dual role. First, it delivered training sessions for participating teams on key aspects of maturing ideas and projects. Second, it participated as a jury member during the final event. The training addressed the journey from idea to market, user-oriented solution validation, pitch preparation and business-model development. It covered the identification of the value proposition and customer segments, as well as key principles for protecting project results.

CITEEC research and technical staff, organised into teams, presented ideas addressing ten challenges proposed by companies and entities in the building and civil-engineering sectors, including Extraco, Misturas, Ronáutica Quality Marinas, Plexus Tech, GOC and Vento Abogados.

The six participating teams presented their innovative solutions through seven-minute elevator pitches, followed by a question-and-answer session, at the CITEEC Visualisation Room.

Following the jury’s deliberations, the three winning teams were “CARRETERAS”, “Los 4 Elementos” and “Nexus IngenIA”. Their proposals stood out for their innovation and knowledge-transfer potential. The jury assessed the proposed idea, the team and its capabilities, the definition of the problem and solution, technical feasibility, degree of innovation and added value, and the robustness of the business model.

Each winning team received a direct financial prize fully funded by CITEEC. In addition, the awards may lead to a second stage of support for developing the winning ideas and solutions, through specialised advice and mentoring in knowledge valorisation and technology transfer. iHUB FEUGA will contribute to this process, taking particular account of the interest expressed by the challenge-setting companies and entities in further developing the proposed solutions.
