Galicia has a high potential for mycological production in its pine forests that is not achieved to the extent necessary due to the lack of silvicultural care to make timber and mycological production compatible. For this reason, in 2022 the Galician operational group Cogomelos+ was created, which aims to increase the mycological productivity of radiata pine forest systems, ensuring their compatibility with timber production, including new clearing machinery and economically evaluating the alternative of prolonging shifts and intensifying mycological exploitation, establishing a demonstrative model of mycosilvicultural management. In addition, forest management guidelines will be provided considering mycological productivity.
The work will be coordinated by a multidisciplinary team made up of specialists from the agroforestry sector. This team is led by the private company Servitec Medioambiente, in which we participate together with the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. In addition, the community that owns the Monte Vecinal en Mano Común de Begonte collaborates.
In order to make the proposed objectives and results of this initiative known to the public, the dissemination efforts that we lead are fundamental. As part of the proposed activities, Cogomelos+ publishes the leaflet, the infographic and the audiovisual animation aimed at the Galician agroforestry sector such as forest communities, forest owners, forestry service companies, administration, mushroom processing companies and the general public.
The infographic shows in a schematic way what is the problem detected by the project and how the multidisciplinary team formed in Cogomelos+ seeks to solve it. On the other hand, the leaflet provides a more detailed explanation of the project, describing in greater detail the objectives set, the expected results and the activities to be carried out, among other aspects. Finally, the animated audiovisual is a summary of the main milestones of the Cogomelos+ project, presented in a more visual way.
It should be noted that both the leaflet and the infographic are available in Spanish, Galician and English to maximize their geographical reach and the impact of the solutions to be developed by Cogomelos+.
