The TALENTGAL programme, with a budget of more than €11 million, plans to recruit 40 postdoctoral researchers through two calls up to 2027
FEUGA is currently accepting applications until 23 July for TALENTGAL Call 1, aimed at incorporating 20 postdoctoral researchers into the centres of excellence of the CIGUS Network.
This call is part of a programme promoted by the Xunta de Galicia and the CIGUS Network to attract international research talent and strengthen Galicia’s position as a benchmark in research and innovation. The initiative has funding of more than €11 million under the European Union’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie COFUND (MSCA COFUND) actions and is developed in collaboration with the three Galician public universities: Universidade da Coruña (UDC), Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC) and Universidade de Vigo (UVigo).
Overall, the programme will recruit 40 postdoctoral researchers across two calls, each offering 20 positions. The second and final call is scheduled for May 2027. Contracts will have a duration of 30 months.
Selected researchers will carry out their projects in one of the ten centres of excellence that make up the CIGUS Network, within research lines aligned with three main areas of knowledge: Health and Biomedicine; Science and Life Sciences; and Engineering and Technology. Applications must match the research topics offered by the participating centres.
The call is open to researchers of any nationality who have obtained their doctoral degree within the last eight years and who wish to develop their scientific careers in Galicia in a highly competitive international environment.
In addition to research activity, TALENTGAL offers advanced training in transversal skills, personalised career development plans, specialised mentoring, and placements in academic, business and institutional environments, with the aim of enhancing participants’ professional development and international exposure.
Applications can be submitted through the programme’s official website, where full information on requirements, conditions and the application process is available.
FEUGA plays a central role in the development and implementation of TALENTGAL. The foundation led the preparation of the proposal that secured European funding and is responsible for the overall coordination of the programme, as well as its operational and administrative management, communication, and international outreach activities. This work is carried out in collaboration with the Xunta de Galicia, the three Galician public universities and the centres of excellence of the CIGUS Network.
The Info Day strengthens international interest in TALENTGAL
Interest in TALENTGAL within the international scientific community was reflected in the Info Day held on 4 June, which brought together more than one hundred participants connected online.
The session, coordinated by FEUGA, presented the main features of the call and addressed key questions on eligibility requirements, funding conditions, international mobility, host centre selection, and the preparation of competitive applications.
The high level of participation and volume of questions highlight the programme’s attractiveness to researchers from different countries, consolidating its role as a strategic tool to attract highly qualified talent and strengthen Galicia’s R+D+I ecosystem.
