FEUGA Strengthens Its Role in Agri-Food Innovation Through Six Projects Funded by the Ministry of Agriculture

10/06/2026

The Galician Enterprise-University Foundation (FEUGA) will participate in six agri-food innovation projects selected under the 2025 call for proposals supporting Supra-Regional Operational Groups of the European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability (EIP-AGRI), promoted by Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA).

These initiatives are among the 82 projects approved nationwide, which will mobilize a total investment of €46.5 million to promote innovative solutions within the agri-food sector. The projects will be carried out during the 2026–2029 period.

FEUGA’s participation in this call highlights its capacity to drive high-impact collaborative projects, facilitating knowledge transfer among companies, universities, technology centers, and sectoral organizations to address the main challenges facing the agri-food industry.

The six projects in which FEUGA is involved focus on strategic areas for the sector’s sustainability and competitiveness:

  • ALGANUT: focused on developing algae-based animal feeding strategies to improve livestock health and reduce the environmental impact of farming operations.
  • AQUAPUR: aimed at valorizing livestock slurry through innovative technologies to obtain agronomic resources and reusable water.
  • FORRAJE PRECISO (Precise Forage): based on the application of precision agriculture tools to optimize the sustainability and productivity of forage maize cultivation.
  • CLIMAMEAT: focused on developing sustainability indicators and assessment methodologies for beef production and distribution.
  • APIS: aimed at using beekeeping as a tool for the early detection of fungal diseases and for vineyard yield estimation.
  • GESMOVE: dedicated to implementing agroecological strategies and decision-support systems for the sustainable management of the grapevine leafhopper pest.

Through these initiatives, FEUGA contributes to the development of innovative solutions designed to improve production efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and promote the digital transformation of the agri-food sector.

Furthermore, its participation reinforces its role as a key link between scientific knowledge and business application, fostering projects that generate economic, social, and environmental value. In this way, FEUGA consolidates its position as a leading organization in promoting collaborative innovation and knowledge transfer, becoming a key player in strengthening the agri-food ecosystem and advancing towards more sustainable and resilient production models.
