EDIH DATAlife comes to an end with more than 600 professionals trained in digital technologies for Galicia’s strategic sectors

02/06/2026

In June 2026, the EDIH DATAlife project, the European Digital Innovation Hub specializing in Galicia’s healthcare, biotechnology, agri-food, aquaculture, and forestry-wood sectors, will officially come to an end. Since its launch in 2023, the project has worked to bring advanced digital technologies closer to companies, SMEs, public entities, and professionals across the region, facilitating their adoption through technological and ecosystem services, including diagnostics and action plans, consultancy, technology applications, innovation support, funding, and specialized training.

Among the project’s achievements, which will be presented at its final event on June 16, is the digital training program led by FEUGA. This initiative has enabled the creation of a course catalog tailored to the real needs of the strategic sectors linked to the DATAlife ecosystem.

The initial challenge: A methodology based on collaboration and practical application

When the project began in 2023, one of the main challenges was to design a training offer that responded to the reality of highly diverse sectors, each with different levels of digital maturity and specific needs. The objective was not only to provide training on emerging technologies, but to do so in a practical, accessible way aligned with the real challenges faced by companies and professionals.

To achieve this, FEUGA coordinated a needs assessment process that involved the active participation of companies and sectoral clusters, universities, technology centers, and the DIH DATAlife association. This work made it possible to identify specific demands related to areas such as artificial intelligence, data management and integration, the Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, data spaces, and the digitalization of production processes.

Based on this analysis, a program was designed featuring a range of courses that addressed training needs identified by companies and sectors, but for which no existing commercial training offer was available.

More than 600 participants, positive feedback, and a course catalog that remains available

Throughout 2024 and 2025, a total of 21 courses were delivered, reaching 436 participants through in-person or live online sessions. In addition, 178 users registered on the virtual learning platform, where they could access course recordings and materials on demand, bringing the total number of trained professionals to 614. Furthermore, evaluations completed by participants revealed a high level of satisfaction with the course content, the quality of the instructors, and the practical usefulness of the knowledge acquired.

This impact has also been translated into tangible results. Several participants have applied the knowledge gained to launch innovation projects or improve initiatives already underway within their organizations, demonstrating the value of training as a tool for accelerating the digital transformation of Galicia’s productive sectors.

Although the project officially ends in June 2026, the training content — including course recordings and educational materials — will remain accessible to professionals and organizations interested in expanding their digital skills. Through the EDIH DATAlife virtual campus or the DIH DATAlife website, users can explore the courses developed within the project, organized by sector. The catalog includes training on artificial intelligence applied to healthcare and biotechnology, computer vision for the food industry, IoT for aquaculture and livestock farming, data spaces, sustainability, efficient water management, cybersecurity, and many other key technologies for business competitiveness.

Final event: An opportunity to discover results and success stories

As the project ends, the final event will take place on June 16, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Biopolo da Sionlla in Santiago de Compostela.

During the event, the main results achieved since the launch of the project will be presented, with the participation of consortium partners responsible for the different services developed. In addition, several beneficiary organizations will share their experiences and explain how EDIH DATAlife services have helped them advance their innovation and digitalization processes. The event will also showcase some of the projects that emerged or were strengthened thanks to the training activities. The day will conclude with a networking session accompanied by lunch for attendees.
