FEUGA attended BioFIT 2025, one of the most relevant European events for technology transfer and for sourcing early-stage innovations related to human and animal health. The event brought together key players in the ecosystem (research centers, universities, biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, startups, investors and technology transfer entities) with the aim of fostering collaborations that accelerate the arrival of new technologies and solutions to the market.
FEUGA leads exploitation and technology transfer tasks in the European Comission-funded project GEroNIMO, which seeks to optimize breeding and production conditions in the swine and poultry livestock industries while safeguarding animal welfare and sustainability. BioFIT was a strategic space for FEUGA to identify collaboration opportunities and enhance the value of the results generated in this project, giving them international visibility and exposure to leading companies in the sector.
In addition, as a foundation specialized in connecting academic knowledge with the needs of the industrial sector, this event served to reinforce our presence in European innovation networks, expand our international contact base, explore potential collaborations in future European projects, and identify trends and emerging lines of interest in biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. It also helped position FEUGA and the Galician research and innovation ecosystem as key actors in technology transfer, results valorization, and the promotion of collaborative projects.
During the event, FEUGA had the opportunity to participate in several one-to-one meetings that facilitated highly specialized interactions. Moreover, the extensive exhibition of established companies and emerging startups, pitch sessions and oral presentations offered updated insights into academia-industry collaboration strategies, intellectual property protection models, and the generation of early-stage investment opportunities.
The edition of BioFIT held in December 2025 in Strasbourg represented a highly valuable meeting point for our organization. FEUGA will continue working to transform the connections generated into new projects, alliances, and opportunities that strengthen the competitiveness of the Galician region and support the transformation of innovative ideas into real solutions.
