FEUGA took part last May in the organization and implementation of a demonstration event for the UBAVIDA project, held at the facilities of Paco & Lola in Mea\u00f1o (Pontevedra, Spain).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event brought together 30 wine industry professionals, researchers, and partner organizations with the aim of presenting the different strategies being evaluated within the project for producing wines with lower alcohol content and sharing some of the progress achieved to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a member of the Operational Group and responsible for coordination, communication, and results transfer activities, FEUGA played an active role both in organizing the event and in presenting the objectives of this project, which applies innovation from vineyard to winery to produce low-alcohol and dealcoholized wines while maintaining their quality characteristics and consumer acceptance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the main areas of work are the use of kaolin and \u201cgreen harvesting\u201d as methods to reduce sugar accumulation in grapes and lower the alcohol content of wines, which has been increasing as a consequence of climate change. Likewise, the project is evaluating the use of different microorganisms and oenological additives specifically adapted to wines with lower alcohol content. Finally, the project will also assess advanced dealcoholization technologies designed to preserve the aromatic and sensory profile of wines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the event, attendees learned firsthand about some of the results obtained so far and participated in practical activities related to sensory analysis and aroma perception of several wines produced within the project. Guided by the scientific leaders of the UBAVIDA project, participants gained a deeper understanding of the challenges involved in producing low-alcohol wines, current consumer trends, and the future of the wine sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The organization of this event is a clear example of the value of collaboration between companies, research centers, and innovation support organizations. For FEUGA, initiatives of this kind are essential for facilitating the effective transfer of knowledge, promoting the adoption of new technologies, and bringing R&D&I results closer to productive sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
