The European Commission’s <\/em>‘Farm to Fork’<\/em><\/a> strategy aims at achieving a more\nsustainable agricultural production by reducing, among others, nutrients losses,\nboth mineral and organic, in the environment. This strategy will try to promote\na healthier and more sustainable diet throughout the continent.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The European Strategy Farm to Fork will act as a\nbenchmark for future environmental regulations and policies such as the Common\nAgricultural Policy (CAP).  This strategy\naims at promoting circular economy by reducing the environmental impact of the\nfood production and cutting down the percentage of food waste. This strategy\nwill also help to foster a greater support for small producers and encourage\nlocal and proximity business. To further boost this initiative, food labelling\nwill provide more information about the product\u00b4s origin and it will include\nnew concepts such as landscape protection carried out by small producers.  New labelling will also try to increase the\nlevel of innovation and digitalization in the agrifood chain.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For small producers, this strategy will imply a bigger\nsupport for their agricultural\nholding<\/a>s. It will also boost local\nand proximity commerce and it will modify the requirements for food labelling,\nincluding information about the product\u00b4s origin and the benefits of family\nagriculture.  This strategy does also\naims at preserving the affordability of these products while creating a fairer\neconomic return for producers. In short, this strategy will boost competitiveness,\npromote fair trade and create new business opportunities while ensuring the\nintegrity of a single market as well as health and safety in the workplace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
