On December 5 we celebrate World Soil Day, a global opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of preserving soil quality, a great unknown and a key element in the sustainable development and environmental balance of our planet.
In honour of this day, FEUGA organises ‘Suelos Vivos’, a unique event designed to showcase the latest advances in European research projects focused on soil health, such as carbon farming, the development of indicators dedicated to measuring biodiversity, or the identification of sources of pollution, all with a special emphasis on their application in Galicia.
The objective of ‘Suelos Vivos’ is to promote the transfer of knowledge and highlight innovative practices that contribute to the preservation and restoration of soil health, ensuring its long-term sustainability. Join us to explore how recent research is revolutionizing the future of soil management and learn about the essential contributions being made in areas such as agricultural practices, biodiversity protection, and climate change adaptation in our region.
Galician experts will show innovative approaches in European research projects and their benefits for Galicia
In ‘Suelos Vivos’, leading Galician experts from the three Galician public universities will share their participation in European research projects and will present the latest innovations addressed in each of them. Their presentations will be made in two round tables in which we will learn how these specialized strategies are designed to challenge the challenges linked to soil, promoting its conservation and improvement.
Attendees will be able to discover how the results of these projects can directly benefit Galicia, contributing to a more sustainable management of agricultural and forest soils, biodiversity and adaptation to climate change in our region.
The day will close with an exceptional opportunity focused on promoting networking and collaboration, bringing together a wide variety of projects and initiatives related to soil health and sustainability. Soil Hub Fair will offer attendees the possibility to interact with experts through posters, booths, flash talk presentations and practical workshops.
This interactive format is designed to encourage the exchange of ideas, promote the use of good practices and encourage new collaborations. If you have a project idea, want to present your results, learn about success stories or establish new connections, Soil Hub Fair is the perfect initiative to achieve your goals.
